REPAK (Ireland) has formallyjoined EXPRA as its 38th member, representing a significant milestone in advancing European collaboration on extended producer responsibility for packaging.
REPAK is the dedicated not-for-profit EPR scheme for packaging waste in the Republic of Ireland, supporting businesses in meeting their regulatory obligations while driving high environmental standards across the packaging value chain. Through its work, Repak plays a central role in funding and enabling the collection, recycling, and recovery of packaging waste, contributing to Ireland’s circular economy ambitions.
Repak strongly endorses EXPRA’s core beliefs and guiding principles, which emphasise well-designed EPR systems, fair cost allocation, transparency, competition where appropriate, and measurable environmental outcomes. Alignment with these principles reinforces Repak’s long-standing commitment to effective, producer-led solutions that deliver real environmental benefits.
Looking ahead, EXPRA is particularly keen to engage with Repak as European packaging legislation continues to evolve, notably in the context of the Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR). Membership of EXPRA would provide a valuable platform for knowledge-sharing, peer collaboration, and coordinated engagement at EU level, supporting Repak and its members as they navigate regulatory change and implementation challenges.
