On March 4, 2025, CONAI – Consorzio Nazionale Imballaggi held an insightful webinar titled “New Packaging Regulation: Operational Guidelines for Businesses.” This event provided a comprehensive overview of the EU Regulation 2025/40 on packaging and packaging waste, published in the Official Journal of the European Union on January 22, 2025. The webinar highlighted the regulation’s obligations under Chapter II, specifically focusing on the operational impacts for businesses across Europe.

CONAI also presented key tools to assist companies and industry associations in navigating the new sustainability requirements. This initiative helps businesses better understand the regulation and adjust their operations accordingly to remain compliant.

2. Fost Plus and the New Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR)

As Belgium moves forward in implementing the new PPWR (Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation), Fost Plus is closely following the discussions and regulatory shifts. As an organization dedicated to promoting sustainable packaging management, Fost Plus recognizes the crucial role of the PPWR in shaping the future of packaging and recycling in Belgium. This regulation will directly influence packaging systems, recycling practices, and sustainability efforts in the country. Fost Plus continues to play an active role in guiding its members towards achieving their sustainability goals.

3. Ecoembes Webinar on EPR’s Social Impact


The director of External Relations at Ecoembes, Begoña de Benito Fernández, participated in a webinar organized by Fundación Alternativas. This session focused on the social impact of EPR and how the system can contribute to a just and sustainable transition in Spain. A 2020 study revealed that Ecoembes’ Collective EPR System (SCRAP) had created over 46,000 direct and indirect jobs. These positions have been characterized by job security, low turnover, and the creation of green employment opportunities in the sector. This webinar emphasized the importance of EPR systems as key enablers of social and economic growth within the recycling and sustainability space in Spain.
