The 10th anniversary of EXPRA on April 26, 2023, was an outstanding milestone for the International Alliance.
Since its founding in 2013, the Extended Producer Responsibility Alliance (EXPRA) has grown to represent over 32 packaging and packaging waste recovery systems from 30 countries, with the latest warm welcome to our partner from New Zealand.
Over the years, EXPRA – Extended Producer Responsibility Alliance has become an important platform that plays a key role in improving packaging collection, recycling, and recovery, where members share their know-how on the packaging waste landscape, exchange best practices, and systematically collaborate to improve the extended producer responsibility schemes.
To prepare for the future, we must learn from the past and understand the present: the 10-year anniversary of EXPRA was the perfect opportunity to provide an excellent platform for discussing how packaging and packaging waste management has evolved and what is happening in Europe and around the world today.
EPR schemes have developed over the past decade and are now more powerful tools for ensuring a sustainable waste management system. Extended producer responsibility for packaging is now one of the best ways to promote circularity and sustainability, a driver of the circular economy, and is showing promising results. By working closely together and learning from each other, we can significantly improve packaging recycling and contribute to a climate-neutral society.
Again, many thanks to all the esteemed speakers for their insightful exchange of views, their in-depth knowledge, and for the fruitful discussion on the future of EPR and packaging as we look toward 2035.
A big THANKS from the entire EXPRA – Extended Producer Responsibility Alliance team for participating in our 10-year celebration.
We look forward to meeting you again on many more new occasions and to celebrating more and more improvements together.
